Namaste to all garden and nature lovers!
I had also bought two pineapples for Diwali pujan, and the very next day, I saw a reel, that too randomly, in which they were explaining the process of growing a pineapple from a pineapple crown. Sometimes I get a strong feeling as if my phone is listening to me. I don't know if you have noticed this or not, but you talk about something, and within a short time, you start seeing ads and reels related to it. A similar thing happened just a few days ago when I talked about making momos at home, and my feed got filled with reels of different momo recipes.

Well, in this pineapple-growing reel, they grew a pineapple plant from a seedless pineapple crown, which required first cutting the pineapple crown. Before I could tell my wife about it, she had already cut the pineapple, but thankfully, the crowns were safe, so I cleaned about 1 to 2 inches of the crown by removing the leaves from the base of the crown as directed in the reel.

The main reason for this, according to Reels, was that the pineapple's new roots would sprout from this area, so the cleaner this area was, the more space the roots would have. As I mentioned, I had two pineapples, so I followed the same process for the cores of both. One of them, which had a tail sticking out from the bottom, was a little softer than the other. My wife told me that it was overripe, which may have been why it tasted a little alcoholic, but I enjoyed it anyway.🍍😋

So, the next part of the process involved leaving these crowns to dry in a shady place for 2 to 3 days. I found this part a bit strange and a bit suspicious because I've seen many such reels before where claims are made just to get views, but they never actually happen. So I watched some YouTube videos on this topic, and learned that this is necessary because that part of the crown is very moist, so drying it for a few days reduces the risk of fungus. I followed the same process and left both crowns to dry, but after 3 days, one of the crowns, which was already from an overripe pineapple, developed fungus and got spoiled.

The fourth step was to place the crown in a glass or jar filled with water and place it near a window, making sure the bald bottom of the crown remained submerged. Some videos also recommend changing the water daily. According to those YouTubers, tiny roots would sprout from this lower part of the crown within the next 10 to 15 days. I've been waiting for 10 days, but no roots have developed. Hopefully, we'll get some good news in the next few days. If not, this experiment will be a failure, and we'll try again and keep trying until we learn.
