Let's have another yummy and healthy dish for everyone.
It's my daily obligation to think, to plan, and to cook for my family. And I sincerely love to do it. I always plan a day ahead on what to cook, and I always consider the health benefits of the ingredients I use and the recipe I'm going to make.
This time I decided to have "Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls". Chicken is a good source of protein, which is important for our bodies. A sweet and sour sauce can provide a satisfying flavor combination with chicken and even other meat like pork and fish. And this kind of sauce is one of my favorites.
I healthily cook the chicken balls too. I use an air fryer instead of deep frying it with cooking oil. So please come and join me in my little space, and letâs see how I did it.
My Savory Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls
INGREDIENTS:
- Minced Chicken
- Carrots
- Onions
- Garlic
- Spring Onion
- Eggs
- Cornstarch
- Flour
- Vinegar
- Tomato Sauce
- Ketchup
- Salt
- Sugar
- Knorr Liquid Seasoning
- Magic Sarap Seasoning
- Garlic powder
- Ground black pepper
- Canola Oil
- Water
PREPARATION:
Wash the minced chicken using a strainer. Drain, transfer to a bowl and set aside.
Wash and peel carrots, and then shred.
Peel and wash onions, then cut into small pieces.
Crush and peel garlic, then cut into small pieces.
Wash the spring onions and then cut them into small pieces.
In a bigger bowl, mix the minced chicken with the carrots and some green spring onions, eggs, a combination of flour and cornstarch and a little liquid seasoning, garlic powder and a pinch of salt. Mix them all very well until you reach this consistency.
Prepare a bigger plate, and brush the bottom of the plate with canola oil. Form the mixture into a ball shape and put them on a plate with the oil until finished.
Then prepare the air fryer, put a baking paper, and brush some oil on the baking paper too.
Set them all aside together with the rest of the ingredients.
Then let's start cooking.
COOKING TIME:
Transfer the chicken balls to the baking paper and then cook them in the air fryer in batches until browned and until they're all finished. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
Now let's prepare the pan or cooker for the sweet and sour sauce.
Heat the pan or cooker, add a little canola oil, then sauté garlic, onions, and white spring onions.
Then add the tomato sauce and ketchup, sauté them with the aromatics.
Add water and 2 tbsp of vinegar. Stir and mix them well.
When it starts to simmer, season with ground black pepper, Knorr liquid seasoning, sugar and Magic Sarap seasoning to taste. Continue to simmer on medium heat, then add a little of the slurry. Continue stirring for a few minutes or until the sauce thickens.
Then add the air-fried chicken balls, and mix them together. Continue cooking on a low heat for about 2 minutes.
And this is it, all done. Our savory, sweet and sour chicken balls are ready to serve... just sprinkle them with some green spring onions or parsley.
My family had a happy tummy again. âș It's good to serve it hot with rice.
