Hello Asean Hive Community
In my neighborhood, we have some regular food carts who walk around the neighborhood to sell their foods. Some of them yell out loud to let people know that they are near, and some use speaker or phone to play the sound. Some even do the old school, they make sound by hitting certain thing such as plate, bowl, or their card, as if they are doing some percussion. So which ever they are, nearby people will notice it by the incoming loud sounds.

In the morning, there was one old guy, we called him the old uncle, who sold congee. We all liked his congee, and he really sold it very cheap. Without any add-on, he sold it around 0.6 USD. I often bought his congee, because if I bought congee near my office, the price at least around 50% higher than this old uncle.
The taste was good, people liked it however it was just good. It was not special or very good. To be honest, the congee near my office had better taste. However the cheap price and the friendly service and warm attitude he showed while preparing and serving the congee might be the main factor why many of us here chose to buy from him.
I haven't seen him in the last few weeks. I have noticed that the recent Congee cart that wonder around in the morning has different "marketing" sound. He doesn't yell as loud and fired up like this old uncle. I haven't bought any congee from that cart yet, but last week when I was about driving out to my office, that card passed next to me.
I said hello to the young man, asking if he was new in the neighborhood. He said he was selling in different block before, but the old uncle said he had enough and decided to retire, and offered him to replace him in this neighborhood. He would leave our city to come back to his hometown.
So I guess we never see him anymore.
THE LAST ORDER
I had tonnes of congee picture from his cart. It is my habit to take some shoots from my meal, either the shoots are good or bad, I will decide it later. Not all bad pictures will be dumped, and not all good pictures will be saved for long time.

This was my last order from him, about a month ago. I believed it was after the Eid al-fitr holiday. To be honest, the taste was already decline and I could notice it instantly. However I did not think that he was losing his time that time, I thought it was due to the Ramadhan month. People had a fasting period on that month, and food cart people had to stop selling their food, unless they wanted to have stupid problem with hardliners.

This order was my highest paid one, because I ordered two side dishes which came in skewers. The first one was chicken gizzard, and the second one was chicken intestine. It was a good comfort food lol, this congee was longer healthy... Anyway this cost me around 0.8 USD, still a cheap one.
I am going to miss his congee, regardless the new one taste is better or worse. I hope he would be happy and healthy in his hometown for the rest of his old days.
