This is my submission for Hive Top Chef competition | Apple : created by @qurator

Hello! Today I made a sweet treat for my kids. This adorable dessert is apple jelly, artfully presented inside real apple shells. It has a delicious sweet and sour taste that's just right. You can eat the whole cup, making it a perfect idea for a party dessert. If you're interested, please try making this apple jelly recipe yourself.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 apples
  • 100 grams of granulated sugar
  • 20 grams of gelatin powder
  • 200 grams of water (for boiling the apple flesh)
  • 60 grams of cold water (for blooming the gelatin)
  • Cold water mixed with a little lemon juice (for soaking the apples)

Instructions

The first thing I prepare is blooming the gelatin powder, This is the process where the gelatin powder absorbs water, swells, and turns into a gel before being used.

In a mixing bowl, add about 60 grams of cold water. Slowly sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold water to prevent clumps. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, allowing the gelatin powder to absorb the water and bloom into a gel.

While the gelatin is blooming, prepare the apples. Cut the apples (scoop out and reserve the flesh) and soak them in the water mixed with lemon juice (to prevent the apples from browning).

Chop the reserved apple flesh into small pieces and place them in a pot. Add the 200 grams of water and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10 more minutes.

Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve.

Measure 150 grams of the resulting apple juice into a pot and bring to a boil again. Add the granulated sugar. Once it boils, remove from heat.

(If you want to consume the apple pulp, you can blend the cooked apples with the juice instead of straining).

Add the prepared gelatin to the warm apple mixture and mix until fully combined. Let it cool slightly until warm.

Scoop the mixture into the prepared apple shells until full. Place them in the refrigerator to set.

Once set, take them out, decorate beautifully, and serve chilled.

The flavor of this apple jelly is a blend of the fresh, sweet and sour taste of apple combined with just the right amount of sweetness from the sugar.

The texture is the highlight that makes this dessert special and different from others. The jelly has a smooth, soft, jiggly, and light texture. It melts pleasingly in the mouth, being neither too sticky nor too firm. When you take a gentle bite, it breaks apart softly, releasing the fragrant apple flavor that makes you feel refreshed.

Apple jelly is a refreshing, beautiful, and natural-tasting eating experience. It's not just a delicious dessert to eat, but it's also a menu item that makes you feel good and happy, allowing you to appreciate the creativity in every single bite.
