Canapés

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY3 days ago

Hello everyone from Thailand!....Today, I tried making canapés as a snack for my kids, to give them something new and different. Hmm... I'm not sure if I'm calling it by the right name, but based on what I made, it should be called canapés. 😆

First, I thought about what ingredients I could use. I used wonton wrappers to make little square cups, then fried them until crispy to hold the filling that I came up with. This filling is made from sausage mixed with vegetables and a sauce that I experimented with.

The flavor turned out pretty good! My kids liked it, so I thought it would be nice to share it here, to give you some ideas for making snacks.

Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers
  • Sausage
  • Diced carrots
  • Sliced spring onions
  • Mayonnaise
  • Paprika powder
  • Ground pepper
  • Coriander

Procedure

I used smoked chicken sausage, but you can substitute other types of sausage or use meat that you prefer. Just chop or mince it into small pieces and then boil it until cooked. For the smoked sausage I used, I diced it.

For the sauce, I mixed mayonnaise and paprika powder to add a bit of spiciness. I added ground pepper for aroma. It was delicious just like that, but you can choose a sauce you like that suits the meat you're using.

Next, I'll mix the filling by combining the sausage, carrots, sliced spring onions, and the sauce. I used raw diced carrots for a crunchy texture, but you could also boil them along with the sausage.

Mix everything together well. It's that simple, and the canapé filling is ready.

Next, I take one wonton wrapper, brush a little water on all four corners, and then fold the corners to create a little square cup. This size is just right.

Fry them in hot oil over low heat. I fry them one by one by placing the wonton cup on a skimmer and gently lowering it into the oil. Then, I carefully spoon the hot oil over it until it's cooked and crispy.

Fry them one by one until you have the desired amount, then place them on a rack to drain.

Prepare a serving plate. Place the crispy wonton cups upright and spoon about one tablespoon of the filling into each one. Garnish with coriander.

This little canapé offers a variety of flavors and textures in a single bite. It starts with a crispy, crunchy shell from the fried wonton wrapper, followed by the savory creaminess of the filling, a mild spiciness, and the salty, smoky notes from the sausage. The coriander sprinkled on top provides a refreshing aroma the moment it enters your mouth.

These bite-sized canapés are a versatile snack suitable for many occasions. They are perfect as an afternoon snack, a party appetizer, a side dish, or even as a light breakfast for those who prefer a less heavy meal in the morning.

Besides being delicious, they are also beneficial. In summary, this canapé dish is more than just an ordinary snack; it's a delicious treat with diverse textures, suitable for many occasions, and is also packed with benefits for the body.
