It turns out there’s a new, delicious restaurant near where I live that’s really taking off. So, we’d just come from the hospital to visit a friend from my community who was ill. After that, my friends and I were starving and tried to find somewhere to eat. At first, we were going to eat in Pamulang, where we usually go.
But because of the terrible traffic and the fact that we were absolutely starving, I finally mentioned that I was curious about Ayam Geprek Keprabon. Do you know what their reaction was? They were absolutely on board and immediately responded cheerfully: Devina, Adang and Kaifin really love Ayam Geprek Keprabon. So we ended up at the Ayam Geprek Keprabon branch at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.

We ordered a few different dishes: the boys each ordered the Jumbo Geprek, whilst the rest of us ordered the standard-sized Geprek. I ordered the standard-sized grilled Geprek. As for drinks, some ordered sweet iced tea and others ordered unsweetened iced tea, whilst I ordered an iced Americano.

Although this UIN branch isn’t very spacious—perhaps because it’s an express branch dominated by online orders—I still found dining here quite comfortable. There are a few tables and chairs for those who wish to dine in, like us. That evening, our order took a while to arrive because I could see there was already a long queue of people ordering for takeaway and online. However, we were patient; whilst waiting, we chatted and asked each other questions. We talked and shared stories about all sorts of things. We’re always like that. Even though we’re sometimes busy with our own activities, once we meet up, we can really spend time together.

Before we knew it, our orders started arriving one by one. I noticed the original Geprek dish. The chicken was pounded until it was very fine, almost like shredded chicken, but it wasn’t. It had indeed been pounded in a mortar. When I tasted my friend’s portion, seriously, it was delicious. The chicken was already seasoned, and with their sambal served in a separate container—it was incredibly spicy and absolutely delicious.

You know what? My order arrived last. Perhaps because mine was the grilled Geprek chicken, so the grilling process took a while. But I was patient because, you know, once my order arrived, it turned out to be absolutely delicious. The chicken, although a fillet, was tender and juicy. Especially as it was grilled, so there was an added smoky aroma. Unlike the original version served as pounded chicken, mine wasn’t like that. Mine looked more like a standard pressed chicken dish. And there was no sambal. Why? Is this menu discrimination? Of course not—mine didn’t have sambal because I’d ordered it at the spiciest level. So I enjoyed that portion of Ayam Geprek Keprabon with great pleasure and relish.

And so we spent that evening together with friends and a portion of Ayam Geprek Keprabon… thank you for reading my post. See you soon.
