The literal definition of surrender is to cease resistance to, to stop resisting.
If you want to know how to surrender, simply stop resisting God's way of doing things. Whether it be what he says in his word, or whether it be what you desire for your life.
The Bible says, acknowledge him in all our ways and he will direct our path.
That's literally surrender, acknowledging him in the decisions that we want to make and choosing to trust that he's the one that will guide us through our steps.
It's okay to not agree with what God is saying for your life right now. you might want to do what God is telling you to do. But you still got to surrender to it, because what is surrender if you actually agreed in the first place?
It's a literal choice to choose to trust God. Even when you don't agree, even when you don't think that's the best way based on what you can see, you have to trust that he sees more than you see.
His capacity is farther than your capacity. You have to remember that he only has plans to prosper you and never to harm you. And you can start practicing this by looking at what his word says.
Matthew 6.33, seek first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Be slow to anger.
These are all commands in the Bible.
The Bible that the Lord tells us to follow as Christians. And remember, if you're doing it your way, you're resisting God's way.
