You want to know why so many Christians struggle with perfectionism, aka the personality trait of setting extremely high standards for yourself and being overly critical of your behavior?
It's because your relationship with Christ is based on how good you are instead of how good God is.
It's us choosing to rely on our own ability to remain faithful or consistent when God is the only reason you walk up with breath in your lungs.
There's nothing wrong with having goals for yourself and trying to be the best you that you can be possible.
But when doing this changes from the joy of being more like God or who God created you to be to the fear of not being good enough to the fear of comparing yourself to other people, that's not of God.
Start relying on our ability to maintain everything that God has blessed us with through our relationship with him, forgetting that before we managed it, he was the ultimate manager.
He is the one who is everlasting when the earth passes away.
