I've been to both Split and Zagreb. Zagreb has the widest choice — but it also has the dodgy dealers with the most dubious sales practices.😮😎
Yes, I agree. Some fresh fish go directly to Zagreb (just as it does here in Ljubljana), but not all of it.
On Pag, I go to Šimune for fish because two fishing boats arrive there at 8 am and if you're quick, they can't hide the best fish for the caterers. But I like sardines and mackerel best anyway, but they are not in the top category...
