I had dinner at my local ramen restaurant last night, a place called "Dosanko." It is named after a famous breed of Hokkaido pony - 道産子 dosanko.
I ordered "bin beeru to hanchan miso ramen."
Bin beeru = bottled beer. Happily, the beer is Kirin lager.
Hanchan = a half portion of fried rice, which mama-san is cooking in the back kitchen area.
Miso Ramen has just been served by the master. I added some pepper and a spoon of garlic sauce.
I like this ramen shop, and I especially appreciate the mama-san. She always serves you a free starter dish, different every time, and always quite delicious. Last night's free starter was a couple of fish cakes in a spicy sauce.
Ramen, rice and beer, all for ¥1,650, makes for a tasty and filling meal.
Afterwards, it was a lovely evening, so I walked all the way to the park to try and beat my 1 minute deadhanging record, even on a full stomach.
My first attempt only lasted ten seconds! But I got a grip of myself and hung in there for a full 70 seconds. It was "agony, Ivy," agony, to hang there on a full stomach, but ramen, especially with a dash of garlic, is a power meal, and saw me through the trial.
I left the park as dusk was settling in with a happy feeling of satisfaction. A good meal, a pleasant walk, a balmy evening, and a sense of accomplishment.
Cheers!
