After exploring Pekalongan, I finally found a drink that caught my attention. I was very curious because I had never seen before. When it arrived, the bottle was so vintage..!!! It really looked like a bottle from our grandparents time. The color was bright blue, which made me even more curious about how it tasted. It's called Limun Oriental Cap Nyonya. And it turns out this is a specialty drink from Pekalongan.
Honestly, this was my first time trying limun, I usually drink modern sodas. When it was poured into a glass filled with ice, it looked so fresh.!!
As soon as I took a sip, the taste was unique! Sweet, but in a different way. It didn’t have that sharpness that makes your throat feel scratchy. The soda is also very smooth, not too strong like the fizzy drinks I usually drink. There's a fruity fragrance, but it's hard to tell what kind of fruit, it was definitely refreshing with a slight sour aftertaste.
Drinking this felt like being transported back in time. The taste is truly different from modern drinks. Simple yet so enjoyable, especially when sipped in hot weather.
Anyway, if you are in Pekalongan, you really have to find and try this. Not just about the taste of the drink, but the nostalgic and “old school” sensation that you get. This was an exciting experience for me!
