What food are you fond of? I have a few on my list but if there's one I can't give up, without thinking twice it is hot chocolate or what we, Filipinos, fondly call hot choco. Knowing my quaint obsession with hot chocolate or any chocolate drink for that matter, my boyfriend took note of a few coffee shops that might serve superb quality hot chocolates. One of these is called The Chocolate Leaf that he'd pass by on his way to his workplace.
One Saturday morning out of the blue we finally decided to pass by the said cafe before I head home and check if my cravings for hot chocolate will be satisfied. We arrived right on time for brunch, much to our surprise The Chocolate Leaf is a cake shop not a cafe that serves chocolate. The Chocolate Leaf specializes in fondant cakes for weddings and other similar occasions. It's disappointing but we were hungry so we gave the adjacent cafe called Crosswalk Bakery + Cafe a try.
At first glance, the cafe's interior is calming to the soul. Wall colors were subtle hues of pink, peach and wood (outdoor); pieces of furniture in white and gold accents were all minimalist just like all other cafes nearby. We were the first customers; for a few moments, we had the entire place to ourselves. When we were about to order, we were surprised that their dishes were more expensive than other cafes we've been to. But then again, we were already there and we were hungry. We ordered whatever looked appealing on their menu. I got their Korean egg-drop sandwich while my boyfriend ordered orange chicken. Of course, I ordered their hot chocolate which was served way too early. It was partly my fault for not specifying when to serve my drink. Their serving time was very disappointing knowing that we were the only customer at that time; it took so long for them to prep our food. Their food serving was meager considering the price they charge for the meals. There were a lot of things I wasn't so happy about this cafe; despite the tasty food they served us, if one is looking for value for money, this cafe isn't the one for you.
