I suppose it's no surprise to anyone that arepas are a typical Venezuelan dish, however they are served, whether grilled, fried, baked, or even boiled (although I'm not sure if you can call them arepas, because they're actually buns shaped like arepas, haha!). The filling is the most important part, and there is a huge variety of fillings to choose from. I've made several crazy combinations when it comes to filling arepas, and for breakfast today I was going to make the traditional one, with butter and cheese, but when I went to the refrigerator to get the cheese, I came across a cooked salad of potatoes, carrots, and eggs. Automatically, my mind thought of one of my phrases: “This is more filling,” haha, so I changed my plans. This time it was an arepa filled with cooked salad with cheese and a good dressing of mayonnaise and ketchup, phew! Always thanking God for bread every day 🙏
