To get ready for Halloween me and Aimee carved a couple of pumpkins.
We got the pumpkins a few days ago, and since getting them Kaleb was really interested in them. We both assumed some scary faces would make him more interested in them.
I drew the face on before getting into the carving.
It was a bit lobsided due to the pumpkins shape, but it wasn't a too bad.
Because the pumpkin was kind of large I decided to try and draw a couple of pictures on it.
This one is supposed to be a cat, but it looked fairly weird, and since I couldn't rub off the marker and try again I decided to just go with it.
I also drew a bat, and thought it kind of turned out okay.
Again, it was a bit off, but it was alright.
The inside of pumpkins are always so weird.
It's kind of like guts, and rummaging around in there with a spoon to scoop it all out is so odd. It felt so horrible. I kind of reminded me of the first time I done mushrooms where I had my hand in my pocket with my keys and it felt like there were worms in there.
Here's the face.
I don't really mind how the face turned out to be honest, but it was a fairly hard process carving it. It involved a lot of stabbing.
The bat turned out better than I expected.
Carving the circular angles were fairly difficult, but all in all it was alright.
The cat - as you can see - was the hardest to carving, and sadly it didn't make it.
I managed to actually carve the cat, and it was fine, but while carving the bat it actually knocked the cat and broke it.
Here's Aimee's pumpkin, and to be honest, it worked out better than my one did I think.
She even done a poll on Instagram and won the competition, I had 3 votes - included myself - and she had 20 odd votes, so a clear winner was decided.
They looked fairly cool when they had candles in.
Kaleb seemed to really like them, but was also kind of afraid of them when they were first carved.
As the candles went in and they went outside, however, he became much more interested in them and demanded that we brought him out, or opened the door to let him see them.
