In a world where high production farmers are trying to produce more crops that will be sufficient for sales, employ the use of chemicals to fasting the growth of crops and plants. It has become a necessity for people to engage in the concept of Foraging and homesteading. Often times, what we get to buy in the market is no longer organic but something has been done to enhance their beauty and Growth and this can be harmful to the human health. These days most green vegetables, fruits and other healthy plants that are supposed to contribute to the nutrients and vitamins of the body has been tampered with to the extent that people get food poisoning because they react to this unhealthy foods. But for the practice of foraging and homesteading, it is a system that allows people to be self-sufficient and have a sustainable lifestyle that is healthy and nature based.

The concept of foraging and homesteading can compliment each other and at the same time you have differences. For instance, foraging is about going to Fields, Forest, coasts and so on, to gather natural resources of food this require minimal tools to gather resources such as mushrooms, berries, herbs, plants etc. In summary, foraging has to do with gathering wild, naturally growing food and resources from our immediate environment. It is considered natural and stress free because, we find them around and make them useful.

Homesteading is a common practice where we produce our own foods in the comfort of our homes. This has become a popular practice in most African homes where people or family is tend to grow their own crops own their own gardening and preserve their own food. This lifestyle has proven to be self-sufficient over the years, because people use the spaces in their compounds of homes to grow certain kinds of crops such as tomatoes, peppers, herbs, vegetables, fruits and so on. Homestead allows you engage in activities as animal husbandry where you grow your own livestock.

One thing about homesteading is that all activities that has to do with planting growing your own food or your lifestyle is organic and free from chemicals. These proves that the necessary nutrients needed for a plant to grow and be healthy is available in that environment. In my compound we have a green area where we plant peppers, vegetables, herbs and so on and they have proven to be self-sufficient and economical.

Growing your own produce is very economical. At least you'll know what you're eating and how safe it is.
