RE: Coffee On The Beach

in Cinnamon Cup Coffee5 days ago

It's been so long since I've bought coffee outside. $1.50 sounds expensive to me !!!

I remember when I had my first job..1970...and my mother was living with me. She was not used to buying prepared food outside. Very thrifty. I was tired of being frugal. I cashed my paycheck, put the money on a dresser for both of us to spend. She asked me if she could save money from that cash and I said, "No." I was a terrible person then (also very young). It was my cry for freedom. That was the first time in my life I saw my mother buy a pastrami sandwich from a deli. It was to her an outrageous extravagance to have someone prepare food she could make more cheaply at home.

I think I've become my mother. It bothers me to pay so much money for a coffee I can make at home for a few cents:)

Life is strange, isn't it?

Of course, you did get the beach. $1.50 was a pretty modest price to get the beach, I think.

Sort:

Each region has different prices in Indonesia. The areas I visited had high wages, while the coastal areas were relatively cheap. Some fancy places even had coffee for as much as $3-5, hehe.

I've experienced the same thing as you. There are many things that feel wasteful, but especially clothes and shoes.

But when we travel, we decide to try something new. :)
