We went to the 'Hunloke Arms' pub on the outskirts of our village for a coffee and a bite to eat. It was a nice day so we decided to walk there.

On entering the pub, it was quite dark, but there were lots of fairy lights twinkling away. It was like Christmas all over again.

We saw a table with silky balloons on it. The balloons were arranged above the table as decoration. I'm not sure if they're always there or they were left over from a birthday party.

We decided to order two lattes, a cappuccino and a glass of water. The staff were friendly, and the drinks arrived quickly. The coffee was nice and strong and quite creamy. I judge an establishment on how good their coffee is.

I also had something to eat. I chose the vegetarian hot honey cauliflower dish. The pub was quite busy, so we had to wait a little bit for the food. I think everyone had come out for a quick meal before going home to watch England play their first World Cup match. Anyway, when the food arrived at our table, it was really tasty and one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time.

My friend's pooch came with us and the staff didn't leave her out as they gave her some doggy treats, which was nice. The treats did smell like sweaty socks though!

I've not been to this pub for years. I'm not a big alcohol drinker, but most pubs serve coffee now so that entices me more. Overall, it was a nice visit to the Hunloke Arms. We had good coffee, tasty food, and friendly service. The pub felt laid back and comfortable, and we enjoyed our time there. England won later on, so it was a good day! I'm not sure walking back on a full stomach was advisable, though.
