Lead and Latte: A Tail Wagging Review of The Devonshire Pub

We only called in at 'The Devonshire' pub because our first choice was closing early. I'm really pleased we did because it was such a nice, friendly place.

It was just getting dark so the lit up Christmas tree looked very inviting and cosy.

The decor inside was quite quirky, with red walls, a gorilla and an Action Man in a cage among the few interesting things.

The young staff were very friendly and attentive. One gave the pooch a bowl of water and some treats. They probably regretted it as most of the water went all over the floor. You cannot take him anywhere ...

We opted for a black Americano coffee with a little chocolate biscuit, an iced latte, a dish called the dirty vegan that consisted of cheesy chips, jalapeños, mushrooms, corn and peppers and good old bangers and mash. The coffee was very good and the food portions were very generous. Not to worry, I still managed to eat it.

I wasn't going to have a dessert but the waitress said the immortal line, "why don't you just have a look at the menu?" Of course, I couldn’t say no, so this is why I came to have a sticky toffee pudding with cream in front of me. And very nice it was too! It's definitely a pub I'd go back to. It's a pity it's not closer to where I live.

I don't know why but If I imagine a pub in some lost places of England or Scotland I imagine a place like that, charming environment and food 💚

Yes, it definitely was different but in a good way.
