A loving greeting to all my hive friends, it's a pleasure to be in this great community with other coffee lovers. Today I am very excited because I am going to share with you my first coffee roasting experience. On some other occasion I had roasted cocoa or peanuts, but I had never had the opportunity to do it with coffee. This is very common in the countryside, people grow it on their land and have coffee beans always in their homes, so it is very common to drink freshly roasted coffee.
A couple of days ago I was in the community of El Crisol visiting some friends, I have already talked about them in other posts. They are in charge of a farm so they enjoy all the benefits that the countryside has to offer, including fresh food. Coffee is one of those delicious foods that can be found in this area. My friends do not grow it but they buy it from one of their neighbors.
Well, we got together to celebrate Valentine's Day, we had invited other friends but they could not come because the farm is a little far away and you need a vehicle. So it was just us and them, two couples and four friends to celebrate love and friendship. Arriving generally our friend receives us with a good cup of coffee, but this time she was about to roast it and I got excited and asked her to let me do it.
I confess that it was very beautiful to feel the beans in my hands, I love cooking and all the processes related to the kitchen excite me a little. Next to me was the wood stove stirring its burning flames. I could already feel the heat embracing me. I took the coffee beans and deposited them in a saucepan and took them to the fire to start the magic.
In a few minutes the whole house is permeated by the aroma of coffee. We all start sighing in a synchronized fashion. I didn't imagine that the day I would celebrate love and friendship I would end up roasting coffee, but I certainly can't imagine a better way to celebrate it. Since coffee is for me an important symbol of friendship and love as I have mentioned in other posts.
I think I over roasted some beans in the end, but it was my first time, I'll probably do better next time. The steaming beans finished perfuming the day and although for our friends it was something very common for us it was quite a spectacle.
Unfortunately I could not be there when it was ground, since our friends have the grinder, and they do it at the house of one of their mothers who lives a little far away. So our friend went to do it while we took care of the food. But even though I didn't get to enjoy the process of grinding it, I got a great treat drinking a nice cup of freshly roasted coffee by my own hands. It certainly doesn't compare to other coffee experiences.
All right dear friends, that's all for now. I'm glad to have recorded part of this process to share with you. I hope to be here soon. I say goodbye with a hug.
