2024 is here, and somehow almost 4 days have already managed to sneak past us...
2023 was definitely in a hurry to leave. It came by so fast and changed so many things; there was a lot of good and some bad, and in the midst of it all, somewhere, some of us just lost track. Yet, there were meaningful moments; some memories worth cherishing, and some better off forgetting.
Whether the past few years have been good or bad for us, one thing we all want is, for 2024 to be a good one.
Now, is it going to be good or bad? To come to that conclusion we have to go through over 300 days of waiting, but one can hope, right? No matter how bad things may get, it's good to hold a positive outlook.
Optimism is better than pessimism, and somewhere in there, a proper bit of realism is needed too...
The first day of the year was quite chill, and since I was burnt out, I decided to stay indoors all day and relax a bit.
And I did relax until a sudden call came from one of my buddies.
He called and told me to join him for a cup of coffee, since he was in the area he wanted to catch up. The funny thing is, that just when he called, I had made a hot cup of coffee for myself. And I was walking towards my room with it, to sit down, get cozy, and sip on some hot coffee.
He told me he was just 5 minutes away, and for me to hurry up. I got ready in a jiffy and left my coffee for someone else to sip on back at home. I do make a decent cup of instant coffee, so surely no one would mind having a few sips. So, not to worry, the coffee didn't go to waste.
I walked down and waited for about 2 minutes or so, and he had reached the end of my street. Then we both walked to the nearest cafe, which was Arabika Coffee. We got there at around 9 PM. I was worried that the place would be packed because it was the first day of the year, this place is packed most of the time anyway.
Fortunately, the place was half-empty, which was surely a suitable environment for a nice chat.
For the order, we went with a different approach for our beverage. We both went for a regular hot chocolate, it was the holiday season, so why not? And, of course, a nice little chocolate brownie, you just can't go wrong with it.
We sat there and conversed for about 30 minutes or so; life, occupation, our 3D business, relationships, and whatnot. Our coffee cup went dry, and the brownies were devoured, but our conversation kept on going.
My friend then suggested that we go for a little walk in the neighboring area. So, we were off, without a destination or path, we just kept on talking and walking. We covered close to 3 kilometers that night, talking about the many different aspects of life. He was worried about his position at his company and was going through some relationship problems, so the least I could do was talk and confer.
It seemed, that when the end of 2023 was being kind to me, it was being quite rough on my friend. Life is unpredictable, but I believe even life has a way of balancing things out.
So, when times are good, enjoy it to the fullest, while also being prepared for the bad times. When hardship comes, do not avoid and detest the experience of hardship, instead, face it and learn from it. And remember, that it's because of these difficult times, that we appreciate and cherish our days of happiness and prosperity so much.
