A sublime sunday in Edinburgh

We had a nice trip into the city centre today to meet friends for breakfast.

We took the tram into town which dropped us off at St Andrews Square. In the centre of the square is the Melville Monument (above).

Having arrived early we had an explore around the square first. I like how nature is clinging onto the base of the monument - alongside this carved eagle.

I also havent noticed this pond which is in the Square before. It was quite a nice day, and it was lovely sitting out there catching the sun while waiting for our friends to arrive.

I never took any pics of it, but we actually went to an Indian Restaurant for breakfast ! Its called Dishoom, and is really popular (you basically have to queue up to get in on a sunday morning its so popular, and its a big restaurant). We had cooked breakfasts servied in naan bread - bloody lovely !

I also spotted this seagull above perching on the beak of one of the eagles, which I thought was funny.

It was such a nice day that we actually decided to walk back home, passing St Mary's cathedral (above), which always looks stunning.

The route also took us past the old Belford Church (above) which is now a backpackers hostel ! Its a pretty impressive venue for a hostel !

We then took our usual short-cut through the grounds of the Museum of Modern Art (above).

The grounds are lovely, and its such a beautiful building - plus it saves us around 5 minutes on our walk home - cant complain at that !

All in all, it was a lovely sunday. The breakfast was awesome, it was great to meet with our friends and we got some great exercise ! A lovely way to spend a sunday morning !
