Ah, August 2021—a time when working from home was still the norm, but a pesky defect on my laptop meant an unplanned office visit to Brussels. Sometimes, life throws you a curveball, and you just have to turn it into an opportunity for creativity, right? I took the chance to capture this low-angle shot in the city of Brussels, giving a new perspective to the urban landscape of Place de Rogier.
Evenings, as always, and still, were perfect for walks along the canal, where the serenity of nature provided the ideal counterbalance to the hectic workdays. There's something about those calm reflections in the water and the fading light that just lets you reset. Which is why i still try to do that every day.
Weekends were reserved for a bit of exploration, with trips to Antwerp being the highlight. The city, with its mix of historical charm and modern vibrancy, never disappoints. We indulged in the beautiful views, wandering through its streets and soaking up the architecture. And, of course, we couldn’t resist stopping by the local cafes, where we also spent many a night in our younger years! One that particularly stood out was "Het Elfde Gebod," which translates to "The Eleventh Commandment." This place is like stepping into a different world with its stunning interiors and quirky decor, making it a must-visit for anyone who appreciates unique experiences.
Looking back, August 2021 was a blend of unexpected moments, peaceful escapes, and discovering hidden gems—all while navigating the ever-changing work landscape. Not too shabby for a month that started the second half with a broken laptop!
