My Starch And Banga Soup Recipe

in Hive Learners10 months ago

I have seen so many people use starch to wash their clothes which I think it's the normal thing to do. Sometimes back when I was still in my hometown, I always used starch for my clothes despite the fact that it is edible. Most tribes only know starch as making one's clothes thick and stand just like a mountain. It makes clothes look new after applying it.

I know that we have so many people as well who know how to prepare starch and can even swallow it for sure. Starch is mostly the South-South. Deltants most especially have grown hunchbacks in the intake of starch. I'm from Delta State and starch is one of my favorite foods, but I have special soup I do take it with.

Starch cannot go with some soup like draw soup. It can go mostly with Ogwuo ( made with yam and most be pounded) or Banga Soup (made from palm fruits) or ground soup known as Isuo-oto (prepared while burning the fish after which you squeeze it inside a plate that contains hot water and pepper as well as Maggi spice).

Today, I'm going to show you how I prepared starch and Banga soup. Just follow me to my kitchen.

Preparation of Banga Soup

I first place the palm fruits in a pot and boil for like 30 minutes. Make sure the water changes color while on heat before dropping it.

Pour it inside a bowl and use either your hand to squeeze it, or a bottle to pound it. I used a bottle to pound mine instead of squeezing with my hands.

I pound it so hard that the liquid can be removed easily.

I poured some water and sieved it twice just to make sure that the chaff is totally removed.

After sieving it, I carried the pot on fire and heated it for some minutes. There is Banga spice which I was supposed to add, but I just decided to ignore it and use onion instead. Although, one can still use the spices as well as the Onion, but that's how I want it to be.

After some minutes, I sliced the onion and poured it inside the pot of soup.

I also poured the boiled meat inside and allowed it to cook for a few minutes.

I poured Maggi, pepper, salt and some bitter leaf in it.

I also put in some fish just for it to have a taste of fish as well as grinded crayfish.

I put some Pomo (cow skin).

I allowed it to boil for a few minutes and then dropped it.

How I prepared my starch

I placed some lump of starch on the pot with some water and squeezed it until it's all dissolved in water.

Carried it on heat and poured some palm oil just to my satisfaction. Although not that much, but just a little.

I started stirring the starch while in the pot continuously without stopping. I did not stop stirring it just for the starch not to form some kind of seeds.

Some minutes later, after it had molded a bit, I had to drop it and stir while on the floor until it was finally molded without any water in it.

I carried it yet again in heat and allowed it to heat without stirring for two minutes and drop it again. I had to turn it properly and carry on the heat for the last time.

I allowed it to heat up again for two or three minutes before I finally poured it in a bowl.

Wow…!!! It's ready to be swallowed.
