that's must have been not easy to grow up there as a white, often called gringo and such at school i suppose
here it's with north and south, different dialects and as culture different world, its like night and day
Of course,literally every region has its own, and they are not common, they are totally different expecially north and south ... I could never understand someone speaking Napoli dialect and I would have troubles with Genova too even being from Venice zone
Example money : in Italian is soldi, in Veneto it's schèi, at Napoli it's abbrunzo
