Well, while I don't support the presentation of cash to a pupil or student who did his or her best to emerge as one of the best in class, giving money isn't completely wrong. But I feel, just like you said, that another way of rewarding such a student, maybe by giving him or her a scholarship is preferable.

That's right! I didn't put that word exactly, it escaped me at the time of writing, but perhaps instead of handing over money, taking that amount and offering a scholarship would be much better, after all, we're talking about studies and improvements for the student, so nothing could be fairer than doing that.
