Helloooo everyone, welcome to another episode of Hive Learner's Creative Sunday Initiative with George Dee.
Today, I made one of my favorite foods in completely different ways, and you are going to love it.
Beans cake, popularly known as akara, is one of the life-saving foods in this part of the world because it is always everywhere, and Nigerians enjoy it at a cheap price. I have enjoyed beans cake since childhood in different ways and one of my favorite is combining bread and bean cake for deep frying. This recipe isn't new but many people haven't tried it before.
The first time I tried this recipe, I didn't believe the outcome would be great but it came out really good.
Ingredients Needed
- Beans
- Bread
- Red Pepper
- Onions
- Groundnut oil
- Salt.
Procedure
I started by processing the ingredients, it's best to have everything prepared for use.
- I removed the skin of the bean by soaking it in water and washed the beans thoroughly for about five minutes.
- After washing, I changed the water in the bean repeatedly until I got rid of all the skins. (The skin must be separated from the bean.)
- I turned the skinless beans into a bowl and added the already rinsed red pepper and onions. I left the bean in the water to get soft for easy blending.
- When the beans had become soft, I blended them with the pepper and onions using an electric blender.
- I also blended some of the red pepper and onions with a manual blender since I want them visible in the recipe.
- Finally, I cut my bread into small pieces before moving on to the next process.
I heated my deep frying pan and added some groundnut. While it is getting hot under low heat, I did the biggest part of the process.
I added the manually blended pepper and onions into the blended beans.
- I added some ginger seasoning and a little salt before stirring and ensuring that all the ingredients mixed properly.
- After that, I put small breads inside the blended beans and ensure the whole body is covered with the beans.
- The oil in the pan had gotten hot already, so I gently put the bread inside the hot oil and allowed them to fry still on low heat, ***but the oil must be hot before frying. ***
- I turned the bread-beans cake around in the hot oil to make sure that every part was properly fried. Immediately all the parts of the bread-beans cake turned brown; I removed them from the hot oil.
I repeated the process for the remaining bread, and the outcome was great.
The bread gives it this special scent, and I love how it melted in the bean cake. You can barely notice it when looking at it, but the bread taste is intact.
The combination is fantastic, delicious, and healthy as well. You can have it anytime of the day with any drink of your choice as well.
