My Joyful New Year's Celebration in Church and at Home

in Hive Learners11 months ago (edited)

How happy I was finally making it to a new year, as usual with other New Year days, I'm always in church on the 31st of December to rejoice and usher in the new year with prayers, dancing, and thanksgiving to God for making it to another year, this has been my family's tradition for years as long as I can remember, I've never had to spend the very second, minutes and hour of the new year outside of a church, it's a tradition and religion I've had to follow, and I don't see myself stopping that anytime soon, my parent taught me that way, and it's the same way I'm teaching my children, no matter how far I might be from home, as I've had occurrences like this in the past, I would instead look for a branch of RCCG or winners chapel to attend as my local church doesn't have many branches as these churches above.

Thankfully, I was around and not far away from home this year, so my entire family both extended all attended the same church and at the strike of time 12:00am precisely, the church was filled with jubilation, people hugging each other and wishing themselves a prosperous and happy new year, after which we all try to find our way home, but the situation always means trekking back home, since most people don't like bringing their vehicles out due to the touts that take advantage of the new year to forcefully tax drivers, the knockout is also another drama they try to avoid, so we all walk in group to our respective destination, while I called my mother-in-law and husband on the phone to wish them a happy new year since they were not physically present with me.

Arriving home, the next thing is to sleep the rest of the morning tidaybreak to catch up on the lost night's sleep while waiting for the new year.

This new year I spent the day at my family house with my parents and siblings,my mum did the cooking, while I stayed glued to my sewing machine all through because I still had orders to meet up, and so my plans to go out to the beach with my children got canceled sadly, ifO had control over the situation, I wouldn't spend the day working but it's part of the sacrifice we have to make as fashion designers, a lot of people don"t know we miss out of the fun during the festive season and work all through, it's gradually fading off now, the pressure to meet up deadlines, and all orders I had lined up have been met, so all of the fun I missed out is what I would be looking forward catching up with this week, thank God I had my mum who made sure I didn't miss out on good food, as usual, she prepaid rice in varieties, fried rice, jollof and also made out favourite local soup, afang soup and fufu to go with, there was also lot of drinks but I couldn't indulge as much as I would have love to due to work, so it was not a dull day for me as I worked at home and was still catch up with the fun of being able to spend time with my loved ones and family.

That is pretty much how I spent my New Year's Day, work and quality time with family.

Festive periods are times when fashion designers get loads of work and money too. Here, where I am, some work overnight for days and maybe a week in thier shops with their apprentices just to meet dealines.

Yea, I did the night work for days too, these days, so I find myself sleeping often in the afternoon to recover the lost sleep.

Wow wow!
It's the photo that caught me. See how everyone is complete.

No doubt, that's the fun of the season, meet families and bond well

Indeed King, family completes the season for us all, especially when we are complete as family.

Yeaaaah. Enjoy👍👍👍

I still miss the Afang soup though.
A quality time with family is something we should never miss.
I'm glad you enjoyed your new year.
Well done dear.

It isn't easy for fashion designers. You are dedicated, unlike some who keep pushing the deadline. I am glad that despite all the stress you still enjoyed New Year's Day.

Almost 10 day's have passed since the new year started and we all are still celebrating the holidays in the same way and enjoying with our family and friends.
