In Brazil that happens a lot that, unpaid overtime. The good about here in Canada is that even supervisors go home after their shift is over, and recommend also everyone goes home. Usually the places that this type of thing doesn't happen is in restaurants from foreign employers, like African, South American and Asian. I had a friend working in a Vietnamese restaurant that it was normal for the supervisor to ask them to stay longer without any extra payment, but only threats that they could be dismissed if they didn't stay.
