Gone are the days, when people crave for Gol gappe one of the famous Indian street snacks. Now people found a new alternate to replace its demand. People are now looking for Momos as an option. Momos are the perfect blend of taste, texture, and affordability that makes them so popular. People love momos because of their delicious combination of soft dough, flavorful fillings (meat or vegetable), and the satisfying textural contrast when paired with a spicy chutney, making them a tasty and versatile street food option that can be enjoyed in different varieties and at any time of day.
My parents always avoid street food due to hygiene issue. Now they put me and my cousion in testing phase by asking to cook momos at home. Never ever tried that before, but we are open to take up the challenge.
Momos are a type of steamed filled dumpling that's popular in Tibetan, Nepali, Bhutanese, Bangladeshi, and Indian cuisine. Momos are a convenient and portable food that's great for a quick meal. After learning from the internet we started preparing to cook this dish at home. For stuffing the dumpling, we made use of
- Cabbage, small 1/2 kg
- Carrots, 3-4 as per sizes
- Soya granules, 100Gm
- Garlic, 4-5 pcs
- Green Chillies, 2 pcs
We chopped all the vegetables very fine. Also soak the soya nutrela in hot water to make them soft. It is important to have all the stuffing mayerial prepaired properly.
We made a seperate paste of chillies , garlic and ginger. We crusshed the granules and mix the paste and mix them properly.
Once this is cooked, we will add them to the chopped vegetable.
Our stuffing materials are ready. Momos are incomplete with chutney. Generally the hot and spicy scezwan chutney were served along with the dish. But at home we made our own tomatoes chutney mixed with chilles to make it spicy.
To make the dumpling, we made use of the ***white floor, which was losely beaded with the help of water. We roll them flat and fill the our prepaired stuffing mayerials into it.
Our filled needs to steamed. So we made use of the Idli making tray. Idli were too steamed using these pot. Taking a cue of it, we made use of it momo cooking.
We let them to steam for 20 minutes. We can check in between. Our home made momo are ready to be served.
We enjoy it with the chutney prepaired at home. It came out too good. The taste was far better than those that are available in market. Though, it is time consuming, but the taste and satifaction is worthful. We enjoyed the evening nicely and also the Momos.
