Technology has helped us so much that we don’t need to travel to another country before we know what is going on there or what they are going through. I haven’t been to more than one country in my entire life but I could tell and I’m very sure that the governments have the data of everyone in the country. Well, it may either be for good or bad reason but the main thing is that they have our data so if you think they do not know you or where you live, stop playing. They know you and can track you at anytime.
It would have been a good thing if the government only wants our data for something reasonable but some government officials sell out our data to fraudsters and those things can be used against us. Let me speak for Nigeria that I’m very familiar with. Nigerians do a lot of registration for different things like the driver’s licence, voters card, NIN, sim card registration and so much more. In every of these forms of registration that I have listed above, there are so many things that are compulsory and you will also find them on those identification cards. You’d find the individuals name, house address and other important informations that you can get to reach someone.
Imagine misplacing an ID card of yours and it gets picked up by a fraudster, they can track you down with it and maybe come to rob you in your house. There are some informations that may be there about your workplace too and they could come to your workplace to harm you. If a fraudster gets hold of your sim card, such a person could get your bank verification number and in the blink of an eye, they have withdrawn all the money in your bank account. This happened to me last year but I’m glad that I got to the bank before my bank account was emptied even though they were able to withdraw some sum of money.
This get me thinking all the time if we should submit our informations whenever we want to register for something and the aim is to be able to track the person if there is anything. It’s just to know more about you, to know if you are a Nigerian citizen and so much more but it is being used against us. I was surprised when I heard that a bank manager was selling information of some people to fraudsters so they could take all the money in that account. So how do we register for things that are very important? Let’s take a look at some crypto exchanges. They make KYC registration compulsory before you can withdraw your money but where is our information going to? Are they actually using them against us or what? I’ve read series of articles where people keep lamenting that the government makes use of our informations against us but they portray it and make it look like they are doing us a favor.
Where has the world gotten to? Is there a way to make our data really private? Unfortunately, there is no way so maybe the world will just continue to go this way. Once a baby is born, it’s data will be taken to know the number of children that were born on that day and they will also take the parents information to know they are the babies parents. This is just to tell us that once someone comes to earth, the person is recognized by the government already so there is no way to escape this. Unfortunately, we will continue to live with this till God knows when.
