To Eat or Not to Eat Meat: A Personal Perspective

in Hive Learners7 hours ago

Food is an essential part of human survival and the reason why we've not gone extinct, and the reason for that isn't far-fetched, because food to us is like petrol to a vehicle. Humans have different things we take as food, and one of them is meat, which is widely loved by many, but in the event that I'm asked to not eat meat again, would I be willing to follow such an order, or would I just snub it and keep eating meat as much as I want? To be truthful, it'll truly not be easy to just let go of something you are used to eating, but then there must be a reason for such a proclamation to be made, and that's what will determine if I'll abstain from meat or not.

I've on several occasions seen and heard doctors talk to their patients to stop eating one food or another, and the reason why they gave that advice, or should I call it instructions, isn't far-fetched. It's mostly to prevent the food from causing more damage to the body system. Take, for instance, someone like me who had health challenges like high blood pressure. Doctors have advised me to stop taking some food because they're causing more harm to my health, food items such as too much salt and the like. Meat is another food people have been asked to stop or reduce their intake of; even I got the same advice for my liver-related health conditions, but for that it is to stop intake of red meat.

Peradventure, If I'm asked to stop eating meat, I might not have any issue abiding by it, especially if it's for health reasons, but if it's just because someone wants me to stop eating it, I might not stop. But for health reasons, I won't think twice before agreeing to stop eating it; after all, there are other things I can eat to make up for meat, such as fish and the different seafood we've tried. Health, they say, is wealth, so I can't joke with it. I know that it's for my own good, and so I'll abide by it and not eat it and disregard the advice of the doctor.

In the event that it's just a mere proclamation that's meant to stop only me from eating meat, I'll definitely not abide by it, because I'm obviously not a vegetarian, so why would someone want to make me stop eating meat? Assuming I'm a vegetarian now, I won't have any problems abiding by that instruction. But I'm not a vegetarian; I was raised from childhood with different food, meat inclusive, and I'm so used to it now, and that's why I won't just because of a mere proclamation stop eating it. Like I said above already, the reason behind the instructions is what will determine if I'll follow the instructions or not.

That's about it on what I'll do if a ban is placed on meat for just me. That's just how I see it, and I know we humans are different; others might have a different opinion. Thanks so much for stopping by; have a wonderful night's rest.
