Hello Everyone 🙏☺️
How are you doing? Nowadays we are seeing quite often the debate around veganism, animal cruelty and rising support for plant based diet. Eventually being a vegetarian and non vegetarian is a personal choice. However there is essential requirement to move towards vegetarian diet to support ecosystem and animal population.
There is a misconception about the vegetarian food that it is not as much rich in nutrition as compared to non-veg food. Also majority of population support non-veg just for taste purpose. I had also been a non-vegetarian until last year. I had not been a heavy non-vegetarian but ate non-veg very occasionally and that too especially in winters. During college time , I was more into my fitness and diet. And just as a newbie i thought eating non-vegetarian food is the only source of protein. But that's not the reality which i realised later in life.
Now I prefer vegetarian food as i started liking and cooking it myself. I love eating vegetables and fruits. Then there are nuts, pulses, grains, seeds to provide the required everyday nutrition. My love towards vegetarianism is somewhere due to my experience with unhygienic practices at the meat shops. Also I now also didn't enjoy non-veg much as I used to do earlier, also i don't like eating eggs as well.
I think I would attribute this change and my inclination towards vegetarian food is due to my being cooking food by myself. It's been a year since I have started cooking my own food and i have been a vegetarian since then . Earlier i used to eat our alot and mostly non-veg just for the misconception of it being healthy and nutritious. However hardly do we know the ill effects of non-vegetarian food. Non-vegetarian food is mostly high in calories, cooked in high oils and spices alot. However eating non veg outside doesn't ensure the quality of the meat, how fresh it is. I had myself encountered an upset stomach after consuming unhygienic non veg. However this is not the reason for my conversion. I had seen with my bare eyes the process of sacrificing the living being and then taking the meat for consumption. This process used to be normal earlier but I don't know after awhile it became not so good and I did get good feeling about it. I could justify myself how it is ok to kill a living being for my own consumption. This is totally a subjective thing, as I have nothing against the thought of having non-vegetarian and the people who love to eat it. It's totally their choice.
However, Meat industry is a big market worldwide and profitable as well. For many people it's just about money. They keep the animals in unsafe environmental, animal cruelty is just part of business in meat industry. I simply can't justify for myself now, as a result of which I have turned into a vegetarian now.
Veganism is another extreme form, where we cut our diary also. I think its more popular with people with lactose intolerance and who are allergic to dairy. I love diary times, especially milk and curd.
Being vegetarian is beneficial for both ecosystem and animals. It is also beneficial for our health also. It has been proven vegetarians are prone to less cardio vascular disease as there non-vegetarian counterparts. Vegetarian food is less calorie dense, light on heart, low in saturated fats. If we consume a balance diet in vegetarian food then we can get all the nutrition. For me i think it is one of the best decision of life. Now I enjoy vegetarian food as there is abundance of vegetarian food around us. It has also helped me in giving more passion into cooking and trying out new vegetarian recipes.
