Did you ever drive the same road so many times that you start questioning reality? Like maybe you’re stuck in a loop, some weird Groundhog Day situation, except instead of Bill Murray, it’s just me, caffeine-fueled, shuttling my youngest back and forth to his Michelin-starred kitchen dreams.
No kidding. My body is running on autopilot, but my brain? I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad... Somewhere between, how is he already signing a contract? and did I remember to eat today? Because, yeah week two, and the kid is officially locked in. He walked in as a fresh recruit and walked out as a professional. Meanwhile, I’ve driven so much that I’m considering billing the restaurant for mileage.
The weather isn’t helping. Spring is allegedly coming, but I’m calling it false advertising. It’s still cold enough to make me question if I would walk out the door or not. The sky? Gray. The air? Freezing. My mood? Somewhere between proud parent and human popsicle.
Which brings me to my husband. That man is so busy I half expect to see an “Out of Office” sign on his forehead. I send him updates in rapid-fire messages because catching him in real-time is like trying to high-five a comet. My daughter is deep in her revalidation process, another journey unfolding in the background. And me? I’m useless, but not for long... Well, I’m still posting on Hive, documenting the chaos like some unhinged narrator of a sitcom no one signed up for.
At least I’m sleeping now. The essence, the basics, without it you make it.. Like, actually sleeping. No more tossing and turning, no more waking up at 3 AM to stare at the ceiling and overanalyze life. Maybe it’s because I’ve given up trying to micromanage the madness. Maybe it’s exhaustion finally winning. Either way, I’m out like a light the second my head hits the pillow.
The future is coming on..Yeah, it is. And I’m just here, coffee in hand, wrapped in three layers because spring refuses to cooperate, watching my family level up in real time. The road is long, the days are busy, but hey, if I’m stuck in a loop, at least it’s an interesting one.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have another round of driving to do. Someone cue the music. If you found the music in the text, write it below ;-)
