Saturday's Lunch at Aunt's and Family Dinner-cum-Movie Time at Home

in Life Storiesyesterday

It had been awhile since I posted on my Saturday visit to Aunt. My Aunt is still doing good except she is not so mobile anymore. Walking around 20 steps especially out of the house when the ground is uneven will cause some nerve pain at her legs, making her just want to sit down. Therefore, I had offered to help her with her groceries purchase weekly, then to deliver to her as well. I also told her not to cook anymore on Saturday for us but she insisted, and saying that cooking with special agenda makes her feel more purposeful and alive. So, I let her continue cooking if that is what makes her happy. And what a privilege that we are the special agenda. Let's pen down my Saturday on the 1st March.

Lunch at Aunt's place on Saturday

Last Saturday, as usual like any Saturdays, we went to pay her a visit. Look at her Hakka dish!

She cooked for us pork with black beans to replenish blood in our bodies. For the black beans, she needed to soak it for hours the night before and then it would be soften by the next day for stir frying them with the pork slices. So delicious.

Next, it was her usual mixed vegetables with chicken slices. The vegetables she used this time were capsicum, carrot, cauliflower and broccoli. She didn't like too salty so she didn't add salt to this dish yet this mixed vegetables were packed with natural sweetness and flavouring.

We got to spend some time with her, the boys this time just sat outside at the living hall to chit chat together as well. Such a precious time.

Before we went home, she showed me two things that she needed my help to buy for her: maltose and some dried fungus.

Dinner and Movie Time at Home

Husband messaged me in the evening that he managed to finish his task earlier, so he was thinking to pack home our favourite food, and we could eat them in front of the TV for family movie night with the kids. When I broke the news to them, they went, "Yay!!!!"

Husband packed the food from our favourite restaurant called Kari Kepala Ikan Melawati and of course brought home their favourite food which was mozzarella cheese Naan. Naan is one type of Indian bread cooked in an big earthen pot by sticking the dough to the side. I don't know how the person did it but to me it was a difficult job. Great job to the person in charge of making naan. Husband also packed 'satay' for us, some beef satay and some chicken satay, the satay here was huge size of chunk of meat, well-marinated and charred, eating with their bombastic peanut sauce, wow-ed!!!

Our dinner setting in front of the TV!!! We watched the show called A Knight's Tale, it is my husband's favourite show when he was young, and he watched it few time with his brother. It was amusing as well as inspiring, teaching the boys to never give up teaching their dreams eventhough the dream may be deemed impossible to reach.

We ended the night with prayers and a short Holy Communion using the naan bread and I made them a cup of berry drink each. Thanking God for our lives and continue to bless our parents, their grandparents and our families and good health and good strength.

Great food and even better company, nothing tops that :)

Btw your husband looks quite similar to a South Korean rapper The Quiett :)!

Thank you for dropping by, @driipam.🫶

I am going to tell my husband about that, and he will be flattered. ☺️

Sending you flowers.🌹🌷🌻

Haha cute Garfield.😉

I made a Japanese vegetable curry using the Vermont curry you suggested and love it! Thanks for telling us about it.

Is this your first time trying? You gave me an idea too, next time I shall just cook it with vegetables. You are so brilliant.🫶

Sending you flowers because you remind me of "blooming beautifully everyday".
