This is my post for #freewriters 2256 prompt flat hosted by @mariannewest

Several years ago my husband and I wanted to go camping in north Florida, so we bought a camper that went on top of my truck, this was before we put the wooden bed on it. we hooked my green boat to the truck and we set of for a few days of fun.

We were just north of Orlando on the turnpike, that is where I thought we were at. We heard a loud bang and my husband said, "We have a flat on the truck. The lug wrench that came with the truck did not fit the lugs on the truck tires.

I had roadside insurance on my truck so I called for help, after 2 hours of waiting I called again and was told the driver said he drove up and down the Turnpike and did not see us so he went on another call. I realized that we were no longer on the turnpike and told them where we were at, they said it would be another hour before he could get to us. My husband was not happy with me and had no other option but to wait.

The tow truck came but he did not have the right tool to take my tire off. He gave my husband a ride to the parts store where he bought a long breaker bar and a deep socket that fit my lug nuts. Finally, we were back on the road.

We arrived at the campground and set up our camp. That night my husband found that he was very claustrophobic. The bed was above the cab on the truck and not very roomy, you could not sit up, and basically, you had to roll into bed. We spent that night and came home the next day because my husband could not sleep in the camper. It was not a good trip.

We came home and he sold the camper and bought the one in this picture, it had more space, and you could almost sit up in the bed.

Some trips turn into adventures, and not necessarily fun adventures. Glad the new camper worked out for both of you. I get claustrophobic rather easily, too, so can empathize with your husband.

He never knew he was claustrophobic until then. It was a 3 hour drive up there just to go home the next day. It was a not fun adventure, for sure.
