This is my post for #freewriters 2257 prompt lion in the kitchen hosted by @mariannewest

My kitchen has always been my territory. I put the dishes where I wanted them, canned food went in the pantry and boxed foods went in a cabinet next to the stove. I never wanted help while cooking, the kitchen is too small for more than one person.

When I am making jelly or canning fruit my husband does not want as much sugar in his and I refuse to make it without the right amount so he is in the kitchen with me making his own. Yes, I can be a lion in the kitchen when he is in my way.

Many years ago my brother started cooking for his wife of 40-something years. And then several years ago my husband decided that he wanted to do the cooking for us. Now I am thinking about it, I wonder if a man gets tired of eating the same cooking after so many years. There are no complaints from me, but I do still cook, tonight we are having chicken and dumplings made from scratch.

No, men do not get tired of eating the same. Mine was fine with steak and potato chips daily.

My friend's husband has eaten potato chips and pizza twice a year from a Cinese/Indonesian restaurant for at least 25 years.

Men do use way more salt than I, me and my daughters, do though.

My husband must be weird, he likes to eat different things and I use more salt than he uses.

Perhaps you need the salt?
It makes me sick if I eat too much salt. On the other hand, I have a salty taste in my mouth lately.

Yes I do need salt, the doctor even tells me to use plenty of it.

That's what the doctor told me too but he said to stop as I became nauseous of it. 🤔

When I first saw the photo of your very bearded husband, I thought he was the lion in the kitchen, with his big white mane! LOL! My husband knows how to cook, but he'd rather not be the one to do it.

The lion is for sure me, just stay out of my way while I am cooking.

I have no complaints about me not cooking, but he does not know how to cook with the 3 food groups his favorite is everything fried. Fried green tomatoes, and fried fish, he thinks that is a meal. I will bake a potato or make pasta, anything other than all fried food.

I do not dare say anything or he might tell me to cook. LOL
