It has been over two years since my mother passed away. 3 days before she had her stroke she took me outside and talked to me about what she wanted done with her place. I have always wondered if she knew something was wrong.
She told me that she was not worried about me having a place to live or one of the "other" sisters. She was worried about only one of us because she felt the relationship this one was in would not last, so she wanted the house to go to this one. She told me that she felt she had given the one sister enough throughout the years and years ago she gave me 2 lots in N Florida, I have been paying the taxes on them for 25 years but we never put them in my name.
The one that put up the money for the lawyer is the one mom said she had given enough. After all this time the lawyer called me and said he needed my address. The "other" sister neglected to give him my address. The lawyer is telling me that both properties are to be placed in all three of our names. He told me it was the law and I asked if the "other" knew about this and he said yes she did.
I told the one who was to get the house about this and how the "other" knew it was going to be this way. She confronted the "other" and the other denied knowing it
Later they call me and they have the lawyer on the phone and the "other" is telling him that the N. Florida property will go in my name and the house will go in hers and the one who was to get its name. I said wait a minute, you two are not getting the house and land to split between you and I get land that I have been paying taxes on for 25 years,also with the lawyer on the phone I asked if she knew all of the land was being split between us, he said she knew, it is the first thing they do is explain this to new clients. She then said she did not understand it was going to be this way. She is sneaky, always has been.
The day my mother passed I felt like my tribe also died, if this is the way they want it to be, I do not want them in my tribe. They think since they have been living in the house and making the payments on it, it should be theirs.
I say if they were not living in it we could have rented it out, made the payment, and put money in each of our pockets, they think I should be helping to pay their rent for them and give it to them.
The "other" knows that as soon as it gets taken out of our mother's name the mortgage company is going to want one of us to take out a loan on it, none of us qualify for one and if she can get her name on it, they will have to sell it to pay off the mortgage and she will get half instead of 1/3rd.
