This is my post for #freewriters 2651 prompt a date hosted by @mariannewest
We did not go on many dates like "normal" people call dates. But we did have what I will call dates. We did things like walking the shoreline after a storm, looking for arrowheads at the bridge, or finding fossils on an island. Of course, there were countless fishing and camping trips.
I remember the first time my husband took me on a date. We went to Red Lobster restaurant. I ordered Maine lobster, I have only seen Florida lobsters and thought I was getting the main kind of lobster that we have. I was surprised when they brought my plate, there was a lobster on it but it looked like it had mated with a crab, it had huge crab claws. I asked my husband what was it and he told me it was a Maine lobster. I told him that it was not the main kind of lobster that we had. He said, no it is what the state of Maine has. I asked him if they would take it back and give me the main Florida lobster. He would not do it, I ate the tail part and brought the claws home, and put them on an anthill so they could clean them out, after that, I put them on a net that I had on the wall for decoration.
That was over 40 years ago. It is hard to believe that I have been with him for more than half my lifetime. From the time we moved in together, we worked together.

The 1980s great clam rush was going on when we started dating, if people could get something to float, they were on it paddling across the river to dig clams. My husband had his father's Jon Boat and he took us, my sister, and her boyfriend in it. We would dunk or trend clams all day. The little Jon Boat was full without the clams but with the clams, we had to be careful as to how it was loaded to make the trip back across the river. This was our dating days.
