Hello to everyone in the Pinmapple community! Today I'm back with a post full of history; about travels, fortuitous experiences and emotions lived. So this time I present to you a second installment of "visiting Las Vegas". A space in my blog that I will dedicate to share with you all about this great city and my experience in it. And this time we will be talking about the High Roller, the biggest Ferris wheel in the world (and one of the main attractions in Las Vegas), which I had the pleasure to visit recently. I did this accompanied by my sister, who was my tour guide during my stay. So join me on this adventure.
The High Roller is located in The Linq (3545 Las Vegas Blvd), a tourist area of Las Vegas where you can find clothing shops, restaurants, bars and an endless number of entertainment/shopping stands. It is also on the Strip, where some of the most important hotels in the city converge (Flamingo) and it is thanks to this that the Ferris wheel was planned to be built at this point, with the idea that everyone could observe the beauty of the city from the heights. The Ferris wheel belongs to Caesars Entertainment and its construction began in 2011 and was completed in 2014. With a total height of 167.6 metres, the High Roller has been declared the largest Ferris wheel in the world. With a Guinness World Record. Plaque that can be seen on the site.
¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Pinmapple! El día de hoy vuelvo con una publicación cargada de historia; sobre viajes, experiencias fortuitas y emociones vividas. Así que en esta oportunidad les presento una segunda entrega de "visitando Las Vegas". Un espacio en mi blog que dedicaré para compartir con ustedes todo sobre esta gran ciudad y mí experiencia en ella. Y esta vez estaremos hablando sobre la High Roller, la noria más grande del mundo (y uno de los atractivos principales de Las Vegas), que tuve la dicha de conocer hace poco. Esto lo hice acompañada de mí hermana, quién fue mí guía turístico durante mi estadía. Así que acompáñame en esta aventura.
La High Roller se encuentra ubicado en The Linq (3545 Las Vegas Blvd), una zona turística de Las Vegas dónde podremos encontrar tiendas de ropa, restaurantes, bares y un sin fin de puestos dedicados al entretenimiento/comercio. Está también dentro del Strip, lugar dónde convergen algunos de los hoteles más importantes de la ciudad (Flamingo) y es gracias a ello, que se planificó contruir la noria en dicho punto, con la idea de que todos pudieran observar desde las alturas la belleza de la ciudad. La rueda de la fortuna pertenece a Caesars Entertainment, su construcción inició en el año 2011 y finalizó en el año 2014. Con una altura total de 167,6 metros, la High Roller ha sido declarada la noria más grande del mundo. Con todo y record Guiness. Placa que podremos observar en el lugar.
As it is a very busy area, the ideal is that if you are travelling by car, you should look for a car park as close as possible to the place. Be aware that you won't always find empty parking spaces, so finding one is part of the experience. When you arrive at the Linq, you will find the ferris wheel and underneath it, on the ground floor, you will find the ticket offices where you can buy your tickets to access the facilities. Then, we must go to the entrance of the place and check our tickets with the staff in charge. Once inside, we can wait in the rest area, go to the toilet before going up to the ferris wheel or get some drinks/food that can be purchased at the bar of the place. We order some drinks waiting for our call.
You enter one group at a time, as people leave. Each trip lasts 30 minutes. So that's more or less the waiting time. Finally, when it was our turn to enter, we had no idea that the wheel never stops. It is in constant motion and doesn't stop for passengers. So you have to run a bit and jump to get to the cabin. It really goes at a very slow speed so the chances of you having an accident there are very low. However, for peace of mind, if you look at the back (where the cabins are waiting) you can see an elastic netting that has been put up as a precaution. Having said that, once inside the cabin (and once the excitement of the jump is over), you will start to hear a voice-over narrating everything about the ferris wheel during the course of the ride.
Cómo es una zona bastante concurrida, lo ideal es que sí te trasladas en carro, busques un estacionamiento lo más cercano al lugar. Advirtiendo qué no siempre se encuentran puestos de estacionamiento vacíos, buscar uno, forma parte de la experiencia. Al llegar al Linq, encontraremos la noria y debajo de ella, en la planta baja, tendremos las taquillas dónde podremos adquirir nuestros boletos para acceder a las instalaciones. Luego, debemos dirigirnos hacia la entrada del lugar y chequear nuestros boletos con el personal encargado. Una vez dentro, podremos esperar en la zona de descanso, ir al baño antes de subir a la noria o ir por unas bebidas/comida que se pueden adquirir en el bar del lugar. Pedimos unas bebidas esperando nuestro llamado.
Se va entrando de grupo en grupo, conforme vayan saliendo las personas. Cada viaje tiene una duración de 30 minutos. Así que ese es más o menos el tiempo de espera. Finalmente, cuando nos tocó entrar, no teníamos ni idea de que la rueda nunca para su marcha. Está en movimiento constante y no se detiene por los pasajeros. Por lo que debes correr un poco y saltar para llegar a la cabina. Realmente va a una velocidad muy lenta así que las probabilidades de que te accidentes allí son muy bajas. Sin embargo, para mayor tranquilidad, si observas al fondo (dónde se esperan las cabinas) podrás ver una malla elástica que se a colocado por precaución. Dicho eso, una vez dentro dea cabina (y pasada la emoción del salto), comenzarás a escuchar una voz en off que irá narrando todo sobre la noria, en el transcurso del viaje.
I'm amazed by everything and almost nothing, so I was really captivated as we got higher and higher as everything looks so different from that perspective and you can understand a little bit of why Las Vegas is such a busy and beloved place. The lights, the buildings, the sky, the cars passing by, the movement from here to there, everything in general created a beautiful image in my mind. My sister had never ridden before either, so it was our first time on a ferris wheel at such a high altitude. My favourite thing was that, being next to her, realising that we were there, experiencing it together and that nothing in the world could take away from this experience. Two little girls from Naguanagua, in Las Vegas (hahaha), who would have thought, so in a way for me time stopped at that moment.
One of the buildings that caught my attention the most was the Sphere. A giant sphere, with tons of screens that transmit thousands of images per second and that does it during several hours of the day. At night (at the time we went), the spectacle can be better appreciated. And there we were, watching the colours of the sphere change. So although you can see the city from other places of similar height, riding the ferris wheel was something else. And it is even exciting to listen to the countdown announced by the narrator (on the loudspeaker) when we reach the highest point. As if we were celebrating the New Year (hahaha). Finally, the 30 minutes were up and we had to get off the same way we came in. Jumping a little bit and that was it. The only thing left to do was to get out of the facilities.
Riding the High Roller was a unique experience and one that I would gladly repeat for all of the above. I know that at the end of this many will want to know the cost of the tickets, so, we paid a total of 25$ each (remember taxes). I understand that you can also see the prices through the official website and these can vary depending on the person, whether it is an adult or a child. To conclude, after getting off the Ferris wheel, we went for some hot chocolates that were really good (similar to Toddy) and we ended the night walking around the area. Attached are some pictures. Yo me sorprendo con todo y con casi nada, así que realmente me sentí cautivada conforme íbamos subiendo de altura pues todo se ve muy diferente desde esa perspectiva y puedes entender un poco del porqué Las Vegas es un sitio tan concurrido y tan amado. Las luces, los edificios, el cielo, los carros pasando, el movimiento de aquí a allá, todo en general creaban una imágen preciosa en mi mente. Mí hermana tampoco se había montado antes, así que fue nuestra primera vez subiendo a una noria de semejante altitud. Mi cosa favorita fue eso, estar al lado de ella, realizando que estábamos allí presentes, viviendo eso juntas y que nada en el mundo nos podría quitar lo vivido de esta experiencia. Dos muchachitas de Naguanagua, en Las Vegas (jajaja) ¿quién lo diría?, así que en cierta forma para mí el tiempo se detuvo en ese instante.
De los edificios que más llamaron mi atención fue la Sphere. Una esfera gigante, con toneladas de pantallas que transmiten miles de imágenes por segundo y que lo hace durante varias horas del día. En la noche (a la hora que fuimos), se puede apreciar mejor el espectáculo. Y allí estábamos, viendo cómo cambiaba de colores la dichosa esfera. Así qué aunque se puede ver la ciudad en otros lugares de similar altura, montarse en la noria era otra cosa. Y es qué es hasta emocionante escuchar la cuenta atrás que anuncia el narrador (por el parlante) cuando llegamos al punto de mayor altura. Cómo si celebramos el año nuevo (jajaja). Finalmente, cumplidos los 30 minutos y debíamos bajarnos de la misma forma en que entramos. Saltando un poquito y listo. Ya solo quedaba salir de las instalaciones.
Montarse en la High Roller fue una experiencia única y que repetiría con gusto por todo lo anteriormente mencionado. Sé que al final de esto muchos querrán saber los costos de las entradas, así que, nosotras pagamos cada una un total de 25$ (recuerden los impuestos). Tengo entendido que también puedes ver los precios a través de la página oficial y estos pueden variar según la persona, si es adulto o niño. Para concluir, luego de bajar de la noria, fuimos a por unos chocolates calientes que realmente estaban buenísimos (parecidos al Toddy) y terminamos la noche caminando por la zona.
