Yesterday we visited an interesting small village on the Croatian peninsula of Istria, called Livade, translated as meadows.
We met people on the beach in Green Lagoon near Porec, who recommended this place to us. They said we must visit it and take the chance to eat the truffles for which this place is famous. It is the world center of truffles, which are abundant here. You can buy them in a local shop that sells only truffle products.
Also, there are several restaurants there where you can eat truffle dishes. There are more luxurious ones as well as old authentic ones. Friends recommended us a small tavern Dorjana Konoba where the prices are affordable and the food is very tasty.
It is an old tavern, where you can try traditional Istrian food, and of course we chose truffles. We ate truffle pasta which was very tasty and we will remember this taste for a long time until the next opportunity to eat it again, prepared in this way.
In the restaurant we only heard the Italian language and we felt as if we were in Italy.
Here you will feel the Mediterranean spirit combined with Istrian charm.
Snails are also often on the menu here and snail festivals are organized, where people have fun, relax with music and eat snails.
In this place, truffles were discovered in the 20th century, and it was a discovery that brought this place worldwide popularity. Everyone wants to try these expensive mushrooms and people come here just for that reason.
This place is surrounded by spacious green areas and vineyards.
The buildings are old and built in the Italian style.
At the entrance to the village there is an interesting summer decoration that attracts attention, a lady enjoying the pool. 😊
It was so hot weather, a real summer day. Livade is located on the outskirts of Istria, not on the coast, so the temperature is high, but it is worth visiting for the unique truffle experience.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
