Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are all right. Have you ever read my story about Aceh? It turns out I still have some stories about that place. There are many places I visited. I visited the Floating Diesel Power Plant (PLTD). This place witnessed the tsunami in Aceh in 2004.
The 2004 tsunami was the most devastating disaster to hit Indonesia. A tsunami accompanied by an earthquake measuring 9 on the Richer scale in the Indian Ocean. The ship that I photographed is 63 meters long and weighs 2,600 tons. It has a generating engine with a power of 10.5 megawatts. Tsunami waves hit and dragged this ship inland up to 3 kilometers.
This ship is at the Ulee Lheue crossing port and is currently in Punge Blang Cut Village, Banda Aceh. This ship is proof of how powerful the tsunami waves that occurred in Indonesia, specifically in Aceh, were. Currently, this ship is used as an educational tourist attraction, as a museum-like anyone. The aim of opening the museum is to remember this terrible disaster.
In this place, there is a video illustration of the stranding process. Apart from that, there is tsunami disaster mitigation. Currently, when visiting Aceh, this museum becomes a field trip for school children. From my information, this place was also used as a tourist village in 2010. Until now, the tsunami has become a disaster that the people of Aceh have never forgotten.
The museum has two towers, then a monument, walkways, and a fountain. On the deck, there is a crew room still intact as when the ship was in operation. The unique thing about the ship is that there is a large telescope on the top floor of the ship. Visitors can insert coins to see the entire city of Banda Aceh. I saw the city of Banda Aceh very beautifully.
For information, visitors can only watch this place from 09.00 - 17.30 Western Indonesian Time. There is something unique about this place, if you visit on time for the noon and Asr prayers, visitors are required to worship first (solat for muslim). Then, the tour continues. For entry tickets from the venue, visitors are not charged.
Even if you want to give money, visitors can give money sincerely. The money collected will be given to the mosque next to this place. That's all I can say about this story. Are you interested in my story about Aceh? See you in the next story about Indonesia.
