There was a time plastic bags where banned here but it was quite hard to reinforce as people were finding sneaky ways to keep using it because it was cheaper that the alternatives provided. I think when biodegradable alternatives become more accessible in scale with reduce costs, then educating the masses to switch into that alternative will be so much easier.
