Hello there!
Last week we had @bighungrypanda and @yugadi visit us here in Bangalore. We had a really fun 3-4 days, which was much needed to break free from the rut of everyday life. I don’t think any of us realize how hard it can be to maintain friendships as an adult. Sometimes months go by and we (my girlfriend and I) completely forget to socialize with all the amazing people that we have as friends. These few days were a reminder of how therapeutic laughing with your favorite people can be!!
We started out with food and yapping, fought over several rounds of Uno, and then decided to go get more food and yap some more while visiting the Iftar Market at Frazer Town in Bangalore since we were almost at the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.
While we expected it to be brutally crowded, luckily, it wasn't all that bad. There were a lot of mouth-watering food stalls that had been set up so we had to strategize and decided to begin the food tour with a (n)ice cold milkshake.

This stall was called Karama and had 5 delicious looking ones. We picked out 3- Pista Falooda, Malabar cocktail, and Mohabbat ka Sharbat.

The Pista Falooda was a bit watered down but still tasted fairly nice. The Malabar cocktail was a rich mango milkshake with a ton of dry fruits in it and could fully be considered a substitute for a meal. Lastly, the Mohabbat ka Sharbat was the most divine one- watermelon chunks with chia seeds and nuts. It was sweet and refreshing -an absolute banger when you’re in the middle of summer!

We then head to Zayan Kabab Corner which was a carnivore heaven. There were various meats being grilled everywhere that you looked.

The Seekh Kebabs looked juicy and unreal so we ordered a couple of Seekh Kebab rolls to share. Bad decision- because this was so delicious, I do not think any of us wanted to share😂

We had to talk each other into not ordering more because there was so much more to explore.

Moving ahead we saw some beef sizzling away on a pan and could not ignore it. We asked what it was called and the guy told us it was Phal Kebabs. It was basically beef chops that were pan-fried on a grill that does not go off.

We ordered a plate and it came with a topping of red onions. This had a wonderful hit of curry leaves and other spices, was cooked to perfection. It was so flavorful and juicy that we definitely fought over the last piece. We also ordered a beef Paratha which was not the greatest, but still not too bad either.

While deciding where to go next, one of our friends- Adil, pointed to a spot where there was a fire blazing away and insisted that we go see what’s cooking. It turned out to be a smaller food spot that didn’t look appealing up close, but we ended up right next to a shop that had quite a crowd.

The shop was called Charminar Kabab Paradise and while the delicious kebabs made us step in, we ended up buying desserts here. We got a slice of Bread Pudding, some Matka Kheer and Phirni. The Bread Pudding had the classic flavors- bittersweet caramel while being rich and dense from the eggs, and a flan-like texture. Matka Kheer roughly translates into Rice Pudding in a pot. This came in a fairly big pot and tasted like lentils simmered down with milk and rice. It was rich and indulgent and you just can’t stop at one bite. We also got a smaller pot of Phirni which is another variety of rice pudding, but this one’s made with rice flour instead, simmered in milk till it reduces and achieves a smooth creamy texture.
After getting a fix for our sweet tooth, we then went ahead looking for the famous Iftar snack- Keema Samosas. These pockets of pastry stuffed with spicy minced meat and deep-fried for that crispy goodness is what snack dreams are made of. After some wandering around, we did come across Taj Restaurant.

While the samosas looked great, I was a bit disappointed when it came floating in oil. I was further disappointed when it tasted like nothing but oil- no flavors or spices coming through whatsoever. We also tried their shawarma but it was more veggies than meat and a bit dry too.

We then moved on to trying a few other things but as delicious as the food looked, nothing was droolworthy, or even remotely yum. By then, it was almost 10pm and we were full from all the different foods we tried out, so we grabbed another Mohabbat ka Sharbat and headed out from Frazer Town.
We then went to a pub that was having a Karaoke Night and sang and danced our hearts out right until 1am. This was such a great start to the weekend!
We then continued the rest of the weekend filled with great food, long chats and endless laughter. 😊
