The evolution of banks in today's society

in Weekend Experiences10 months ago

Hi friends,

The old people in my country used to say that putting the money under the mattress of the bed was the best way not to lose the money. In the early 2000's I didn't believe them, but now I do.

Many years ago...

I remember that years ago having a small amount of money saved in our bank current account could give us some interest, even if it was only a few euros, it was something that really pleased and gave it value when it came to be fie to the bank on duty.

I even remember and still keep in my mother's house a television that the bank gave me as a gift when I paid my salary directly to the company. It was 2009 and as you know the current relationship between banks and customers has changed for the worse.

Decade 2010-2020

In the last decade, the price of money fell in Spanish banks and I think worldwide and that meant that the interest that banks paid annually to those of us who had a savings account translated into 0 euros of interest.

To make matters worse, the gifts that the branches made to customers were limited only to new customers and not at all to gratify with some detail to those of us who have our money in the account. The last gift was in 2010 and it was a deck of cards. I know it is not much, but at least it is a detail.

Recent years

In recent years, with the development of online banking, which I think is a great advance, there are fewer and fewer bank branches in Spain. This has sometimes caused me that the bank with which I operated all my life in the case of having to do some face-to-face management forces me to have to take my car and move 10 km. It is not many kilometers, but it is a nuisance.

But what bothers me the most and makes my balls swell is arriving at the branch to be told that you must go to the ATM and make the transition yourself, which could not be done in online banking. In other words, I have to go and do the work myself.

And that's not the end of it, even a simple document that you generate yourself as an account certificate has an issuance fee of more than 1 euro.

In conclusion, one of the things that angers me most about today's society and the current world of banking is that you have to travel more kilometers, do the work yourself and pay for it.

I hope that soon a real monetary freedom based on cryptocurrencies will be imposed, where we ourselves can govern ourselves without the strings of the powerful banks.

Best regards and have a nice weekend.

I agree with you completely. We have the same, many banks closing which makes it more difficult to do banking, especially when things go wrong. They pitch it that it's better for the customer but I disagree...it's not so good for jobs either.

The paradox of making more profit at the expense of fewer employees. In turn, more commissions to customers.

Let's hope that little by little, with protests and investing money away from traditional banking, the situation can be partially reversed.
