What's On The Menu This Weekend

Honeywheat sourdough bread

Keeping it simple this weekend. Protein heavy. Low carb. Mostly.

Got some sliced turkey in the fridge. Kim made some sourdough bread. So turkey sandwiches with the few tomatoes we have left are definitely happening. Simple, good and gets the job done. There's something about a basic sandwich done right that beats a lot of complicated meals. Good bread, meat, fresh tomato. Don't need much else.

We'll probably order out at least once. Been craving steak nachos from a local Mexican place. That's most likely happening. Can't shake the craving so might as well give in to it. You know how it is when something gets stuck in your head and you can't stop thinking about it until you just go get it. That's where I'm at with those nachos. Loaded with steak, cheese, all the toppings. Not exactly low carb but sometimes you have to live a little.

Now we might do Chinese instead. If we go Chinese it'll be Kung Pao chicken. That's my usual. Spicy, savory and hits the spot every time. But if I'm being honest the Mexican is probably winning this weekend. Those nachos aren't going to eat themselves.

Kim's also planning to bake some honey oat sourdough bread this weekend. I'll have to watch my intake on that because of my diabetes. Can't just eat half a loaf like I want to. But fresh homemade bread warm out of the oven with a little butter? Yeah I'll have some. Just have to be smart about it. I think some of it with some peanut butter on it toasted. With peanut butter for breakfast. Yeah, that's the ticket.

If I finally test negative for COVID we might get out and hit a couple of stores. Been stuck in this house isolating for what feels like forever. Ready to get out and do something. Even if it's just wandering around a store for an hour. At this point I'll take it. We may even grab a quick bite to eat while out.

Nothing fancy. No big plans. Just good food with my wife and hopefully some freedom from this house.

What are you eating this weekend?

Well... I'll make roast chicken and potatoes, which I love, and on Sunday night I'll have a snack with my family, with chorizo, cheese, olives and stuff like that... ice cream, I love ice cream!

But that homemade bread with butter sounds ideal. Take good care of yourself!

Oh my! All of that sounds fabulous. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Although my turkey sandwich is still attractive. So are the nachos :-)

I will try and take care. You as well.

Hahaha, mine is even more delicious! Just kidding, hahaha, but I do have ice cream!

Have a great weekend!

I asked the good lady for some ice cream last night. But my begging fell on deaf ears. She is dead set on making me stick to my diet. I get it now and then. But lately I have had too many treats. At least in her opinion :-)

The lady is always right, listen to her.🤣

That is one lesson I have learned the hard way after 33 years of marriage.

Well done! And don't eat ice cream today!

That bread looks really good. To be honest, I've never eaten sourdough bread, but I'd really like to try some. I would have liked to see a slice of that bread. You know, it seems like I like to suffer 😄

It is really good.

I had some fried perch last night for lent even though I don't really celebrate this period. I also had a quick breakfast this morning because I had to get the wife's car to the dealership to get the oil changed.

Sounds good enough to me. Fish is a good meal. Something I am supposed to eat more of.

Fried though? :)

Well, if it's fried I usually just peel away the fried stuff most times.
