$54.56 hotdogs

Last weekend we spent a day in the hills wandering around a botanic gardens and afterwards felt like something to eat - we ended up at a place called, German Spoon, in a small town called Hahndorf. I've not been to the restaurant before but felt it was worth a try. German Spoon Website

The menu looked pretty good but I wanted something simple so decided on a hotdog. My partner also had one...well, she had a haloumi hotdog rather than a traditional one but it still counts. We also got a couple of cokes and the bill came out to $54.56 AUD. (About $39USD, $47EU or $41GBP)

Worth it?

You bet your fucken ass it was worth it - a bloody good hotdog - but it's still pretty costly I suppose. Here's the thing though...the girl didn't seem able to work the cash register right so gave back too much change - see the tax invoice above. Hmm, blame the operator or the business owner/manager for insufficient training?

Maths isn't most people's strongest point, but I find Asians tend to do much better than Caucasians, at least in UK.

One time our supermarket bill came to something like £16.20 so we gave the cashier £21.20. Poor girl was so confused, gave the £1.2 back to us, and £3.80 change 🙃

The same situation with an Asian cashier, and she got it immediately.

I don't know if it's a cultural thing but there's some dumbasses out there that's for sure. Not so long ago I actually asked the cashier to count back my change so I knew she got it right. She tried twice and was way off and than I took pity on her and said, just dump it in my hand, I haven't got the time. A sad indictment of the state of play these days.

Indeed a but expensive, ok 19,9$ AUD is quite similar to prices here but they include chips for that price... Also the coke price seems quite high

But again, it's all relative to one's wealth

I always go a check for what the operator gives me back, mistakenly is human

People really don't know how to handle change these days. It's kind of sad. I'll be the first to admit though when I worked retail it took a bit to get fast at it. It's one of those things where you can be trained, but until you are on the job with the fast pace you don't really get it I think. The hot dogs look amazing. We have a few of these "gourmet" style hot dog places popping up and they have some pretty impressive flavors.

Oh yeah, the hotdog was bloody awesome...costly, but I'm happy to pay for good food.

As for the change...yes, it's something someone can learn but people don't want to learn these days, they want AI to think for them.

Is it impossible that you gave $55 and that $45 was returned to you at the cash register?
If so that cashier was very bad at school :-)
But for hotdogs, no matter how tasty and good, a very strong price...
