Good afternoon dear hivers, today I am very happy to be able to participate again in the fantastic weekend challenge of our friend @galenkp Here is my answer to a question that I found very interesting...
You can only eat two different types of food until the day you die; what are they and why?
This photo that I share with you reflects a before and after in my life, an eating pattern that was present for a long time, but that is not my current reality. If I had asked myself this question in the past, there is no doubt that my answer would have been to choose corn flour so that I could enjoy the tasty cakes and desserts with sugar that were my great weakness. Last Christmas, my daughter had made the decision to follow a healthy eating regimen, even though she always failed in her goal, this time it was different since she had been following her new lifestyle for 8 months. In my country there is a culinary tradition that is usually prepared at Christmas time, its main ingredient is corn flour, my daughter prepared her healthy version and substituted the flour for chicken, when I tasted her dish I was surprised and I understood that it is easy to eat healthy and tasty, my daughter taught me a good lesson and I decided to follow her example.
Reflecting on the question of choosing only two foods for the rest of my life, it was not easy to rule out some ingredients that I am fascinated by. The first food I selected was chicken, which I believe has a lot of benefits and nutrients that will help me have a healthy diet. It is a food that will act as a pillar during the stage of my old age helping to produce red blood cells, it is inevitable to feel fatigue and tiredness at this age is a way to lessen this reality, on the other hand is an important source that provides protein this will be a great benefit for my bones and not to lose muscle mass, taking into account that I will combine it with physical exercise.
The second food I selected is watercress, a vegetable that I really enjoy. Watercress Caesar salad is one of my favorites. I also use it to prepare soups and creams. Watercress is a very nutritious food, it provides a sufficient amount of vitamin C, this will help me protect my immune system by keeping colds away. Another benefit is the calcium content I am sure that my bones will appreciate the consumption of this food. I will have the peace of mind of knowing that by having a high iron content I will not suffer from anemia. Particularly, I always try to keep myself informed about which foods have an important source of minerals and antioxidants and watercress occupies an important place in the food pyramid. I am sure that if I use my creativity and passion in the kitchen I could improvise many recipes with these two foods and enjoy them for the rest of my life!
