Hello Hive Family! This is @mairaj.ansari from Karachi, Pakistan. Yesterday I started writing my first post for this wonderful community, and now that it’s Monday, I’m finally sharing it with you.
Sundays in Pakistan/India (whole of South Asia in fact), usually mean that you are invited somewhere, or you are going to host your loved ones at your place ❤️. It’s a beautiful part of our culture, something that keeps us connected. We gather around evening at tea, eat snacks, sip tea and share happiness and struggles. I mean in today’s busy world, moments like these are nothing less than a blessing. You can actually step out of your daily routine and that allows reducing stress & fatigue as well. A lovely change for the families and kids ❤️.
This Sunday, we invited our cousin Junaid, who visited us after almost 6 months, with his wife & a new born baby 😊.
Of course, whenever guests are coming, preparations are made all around the house. But I actually love food, cooking? Even more. So, I will be sharing things from Kitchen’s, actually the chef’s perspective. For the main course, we had two dishes: Chicken Pulao and Beef Karahi.
Let’s start with my favorite Chicken Pulao. The process is a bit lengthy and begins with frying finely chopped onions.

After that, tomatoes are added and left to soften with the lid on.

Once the tomatoes are soft and cooked down, we add yogurt mixed with Shan Pulao Masala, and fresh green seasoning (green chili paste, crushed coriander and mint, plus curry leaves). Everything is mixed and cooked on low to medium flame until it all comes together beautifully.

Next comes the chicken, which is first boiled for its stock and set aside.

Now, don’t worry, I’m not sharing a recipe here 😄. I just wanted to show you the joy I get from seeing food being cooked. Honestly, it sometimes feels even better than eating it!
And here’s the final look of the pulao.

Usually, beef pulao is the favorite choice, and no doubt, it’s delicious. But this time, we switched it up Chicken Pulao with Beef Karahi just to give our guests a slightly different experience.
I won’t go into too much detail about the karahi. Let me just show you.

Friends, I had a great time preparing everything throughout the day especially the cooking part. What are your thoughts about Sunday get togethers? Please do share in your comments I would love to read them.
P.S. I should confess: I didn’t actually cook these dishes myself. My wife made them I just helped a little. So all credit goes to her! The food was amazing, and our guests absolutely loved it.
