This is how last Sunday we decided to go out for lunch, we love cooking at home, but sometimes cooking every day is quite exhausting, so on Sunday we decided to get out of the routine and go out for lunch together, plus we have started to make a monthly plan to go out to eat the three of us, and share and talk about everything that we do not usually do during the week because we have different agendas, studies and jobs, so we just want to catch up, with our things, in Medellin Colombia on weekends the streets are filled with huge pots of soup, and especially in the popular places, are so great the soups they cook, that their stove areas are not enough for such a feat, something very typical of this area of the country is to go out to eat soup, with family and early in the morning you can get a good soup of: chicken, fish or the famous "cruzado" (chicken and beef) full of vegetables, and vegetables, there is a collective and cultural idea about soups, going out with the family and enjoying this dish, gives you a sense of health and above all being with the family, it is something that is deeply rooted, so we did not hesitate to immerse ourselves in this delicious practice and we set out to taste a rich chicken and beef soup.
And just as you can see, it is too much, a marvel, in Medellin when it comes to food nothing is small, little or not appetizing, everything is a surprise, we went there mainly to satiate our desire for a Sunday lunch, and chat about our things, but the lunch was so big, tasty and colorful that the time we were there was to talk about the food, the price was wonderful, at the end I will tell you, we did not know that when we ordered the soup it also came with juice and another dish as a complement, because usually when you order a soup that is not from the economic menu, it does not come with anything else, this was the exception, so we had no choice but to feed us with all that, a day without doubt full of real pleasure.
And there is no dish in Medellin that does not include a juice of a typical fruit, this one is of lulo, a fruit very appreciated by the Paisas, some mini arepas to accompany the soup, and a good spicy sauce to taste everything on the table.
This dish is the contours of the soup, it is the first time we try something like this, it looks typical and normal, but I am Venezuelan and we do not usually eat bananas as an accompaniment to lunch or dinner, usually we eat it as a snack or breakfast, but never with salads or much less with soup, but that's when I do not limit myself and just try it, It is not something I would eat often, but it was good, my daughter did not want to try it, I convinced her a little, and she tried it, I teach her that above all we must be grateful for the family moments, the possibility of doing this, and that trying different things is good and necessary because we are part of a whole, and that there are wonderful things to see and try, so that dish was good.
