One intriguing aspect about life is the experiences that we have as we go forth in our individual journeys. You see, these experiences do not just occur; they act as a guide in our growth process. Aside from that, they also play a vital role in assisting us evolve into different and improved versions of ourselves.
It is worth noting that this transformation can only happen if we reflect deeply and learn from the lessons that these experiences present us with. For without this insight, we risk becoming victims of circumstance. Thus, allowing life to dictate our path rather than actively shaping it ourselves.
I like to look at life in stages. The beginning stage is one of learning, a phase in our lives where we assimilate knowledge and shape our belief system according to our environment and experiences.
Coming afterwards is the stage of unlearning. This is a critical stage where we evaluate and do away with beliefs, attitudes, or habits that no longer serve our growth process. In this phase, we gain the courage to challenge our previous understandings and let go of limiting notions.
At the last and final stage, we relearn all that we are knowledgeable of in a new or different way. Here, we build on existing knowledge and experiences to gain a more profound understanding about life.
I recently started eating more of quality than quantity. Infact today I had just one meal and I have never felt lighter in a while. I have been battling with reflux and this gave me the push to pay critical attention to what I eat. Already, a friend had enlightened me in the past on the importance of eating quality and not quantity. But then the African in me refused to listen.
Technically I grew up in an environment where Carb is the staple and food are expected to be consumed in large quantities. So by the time you are done eating, you are most likely struggling for breath with a protruding tummy. While I enjoyed the life of gluttony, age caught up with me and I started stuggling through digestive processes. It was at this point that I remembered my friend's words on quality over quantity.
At first I refused to heed but then my body started revolting against me each time I overfed. Thus, I became cautious of quantity and gradually started embracing quality.
Currently, I plan my meals having less carb and more proteins plus vegetables. Never have I felt healthier and in a better mood.
